John Bunter was a Trade & Investment Adviser with the British Trade Office of the British Deputy High Commission, Mumbai, India. He is based in Pune, and has been working on the Education sector in the Western region of India for over 8 years. He had led several delegations of Indian Education Institutes to UK where they met with a large number of UK universities. He has also organised delegations of UK Universities to India in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. Over 30 MOU’s have been signed between the UK and Indian HE institutes as a result of these delegations.
John has an extensive knowledge of the education sector in India, especially in the Western region, and has worked with, and has contacts with senior management of most of the leading education institutes there. He also has contacts with many of the leading UK universities with whom he has interacted over the years. John also has an excellent rapport with other UKTI colleagues pan India and hence has reach to education institutes across the country.
John has a work experience of over 25 years across sectors, including Banking, Insurance, Travel & Tourism and International Trade. He has strengths in the areas of Sales and Marketing, Customer Relations, Administration and Collaborations. He was a key coordinator of the Royal visit to Pune in November 2014, and played an important role in planning and implementation of all aspects of the visit.
Prior to joining the British High Commission he worked for the Commonwealth Business Council.
Currently, he has his own consultancy which assists a few select UK Universities as well as Irish institutes in collaborations with Indian HE institutes. He also assists those wishing to setup, or enter the Indian education sector. His specialty is International collaborations in which he has extensive knowledge and experience.
